"Linen for the summer"

Today I’m highlighting linen for the summer.

 With summer already upon us, we are going to be experiencing weather temperatures in the upwards of 90 degrees. So what’s a gent to do when you have to be dressed to the nine for important meetings and events? Well gentlemen, times like these call for a great linen blazer. Why, you asked? Well here’s a couple of fun facts;

Linen is a natural fabric, from the flax “linseed” plant - made into clothing. It has a well-earned reputation for its exceptional coolness and freshness in hot weather. It is currently going through a renaissance as people become more aware of it’s properties. Also in hot weather people wearing linen clothes have been found to show a skin temperature of 3°- 4°C below that of those similarly dressed in silk or cotton. It is very versatile, much stronger than cotton yet can be very soft in hot climates, allows more air-flow and it’s structure means it stays away from your skin allowing better airflow over your body. I know a lot of people get frustrated with the wrinkleness of it, however it has long been admired and exploited in fashion. The tendency to wrinkle is often considered part of the fabric’s particular “charm”.

There you have it gents. Be sure to add a linen blazer to your wardrobe for the summer as it could be a life savior against the heat waves that are to come upon us. You can find decent quality at around $100 bucks, like the one I’m wearing in this post.
